Ryan Sandstrom, S.E.
With over 8 years of experience, Ryan specializes in the design of new structures and retrofit of existing structures and is an expert in the field of forensic engineering. He is experienced with a variety of projects, including the analysis of existing buildings and design for tenant improvements, commercial buildings, offices, institutional facilities, educational facilities, and healthcare facilities.
Problem-solving and critical thinking has always been Ryan’s passion. Whether developing details as part of the structural design process or performing forensic engineering examinations, he is pushed to find unique and creative solutions. Inspired by his mentors at the onset of his career, Ryan’s passion and interest for structural engineering grew and promoted his interest in mentoring others.
Ryan joined JLA in 2019. Until recently, Ryan was involved in the ACE mentor program, which introduces high school students to career paths in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE), and served as a Pasadena, CA chapter team leader from 2011-2016.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys bicycling, golf, reading, and building Legos with his son- although he rarely follows the directions but always constructs something of fascination.
