House Noir — Malibu, CA

At 1,970 SF, House Noir is a single-family residence sitting on one of the last undeveloped lots in Malibu. The home addresses the complex challenges of building next to the ocean, where impacts of climate change and rising sea levels present risk. In order to combat the effects of sea air, the home was enveloped with aluminum and non-corrosive metal, which folds up from the street façade, creating a transition between wall and roof. An open-air staircase with metal treads illuminates natural light, while leading up to a master suite bedroom opening up to wide ocean views.
